Awards will be announced and distributed on or by September 15 and March 15.
What is the amount of the award?
The funds available for grants will vary from year-to-year based on the annual fund-raising efforts of the MRFU. It is anticipated that a minimum of $1,500 will be awarded each calendar year. Applicants may request any amount, but the available funds may be distributed to multiple organizations. There is no assurance that the grant application will be funded in the amount requested.
Who is eligible to apply for funding?
To be eligible for funding, an applicant must be a rugby team, school district, teacher or youth rugby organization operating in the Metropolitan St. Louis Area or in an area of rural Missouri not otherwise served by any organized rugby league or union.
Funding is not intended to promote or fund individual rugby players but can be used for coach or referee certification or education of an individual. In all cases, the applicant organization/program must present a clear statement of purpose to promote the sport of rugby in the service area.
The priority for grant funding will be youth programs and coaching/referee clinics and conferences

- Individual Players (see above; can be used for coaching, referees, administrators)
- Retroactive reimbursement for funds already spent
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age or disability.
What information will be considered when making a funding decision?
In addition to the specifics of each proposal, the MRFU will consider whether:
- The organization has demonstrated the capacity to carry out the project, including necessary staff and financial resources
- There is an adequate plan to evaluate the impact of the project / use of funds
- Funding has been requested or secured from other sources rather than the MRFU being the sole funder
- The organization has a track record of success
